Sony’s New Picture Frame Is A Beauty

Sony is set to bring to the marketplace a Digital Picture Frame in time for the Christmas shopping season.  The Sony DPF-D72N/BQ Digital Photo Frame will have a 7” LCD WVGA video display, has clear and intense colors, has a 16:10 aspect ratio LCD, has a remote control, has multiple playback options, and will display photos at a 800×480 resolution.  You can put your pics on the provided 1GB memory.  As stated on Sony’s webpage, the internal memory will have up to 2,000 pictures!  This Sony digital frame can display two image formats: JPEG and RAW.  Since every single digital cameras do support JPEG, then the Sony frame will certainly work with all digital cameras!

It is able to use most of the common memory card formats and it is able to receive pictures by using a USB port.  Memory cards that this frame supports comprise of Memory Stick Duo, Memory Stick PRO Duo, Secure Digital (SD), Multi-Media Card (MMC), Compact Flash Card Type I and Type II, and xD-picture cards.

Other features include Auto Resizing and Auto Rotation, which will come in handy.  Auto Resizing automatically shrinks or expands your pics for best display, without loosing the photo’s proportions or attractiveness.  Just as well, the Auto Orientation automatically spins around the photos into landscape or portrait format.  With this feature you are able to put up your digital frame horizontally or vertically, however, images are shown better in landscape mode.

Additionally, the frame includes various view modes, a clock and a calendar.  The Sony frame will be about 150 U.S. dollars when it comes to the stores.

Three main features that are not present from this Sony digital frame are video, audio, and wireless support.  In this day and age, even toys are going wireless, so it is hard to think why Sony would come out a wireless-less digital picture frame.
